Add More Ing to Your Life: A Hip Guide to Happiness
I stumbled upon Gabrielle Bernstein's video log (vlog) articles on The Huffington Post and was immediately intrigued - a little hippie, a little Chanel, life-coach extraordinaire. Coincidentally, she wrote a blog post on Kris Carr's crazy sexy life .com recently and, if you missed my last post, I had just finished reading Kris Carr's Crazy Sexy Diet and was now ready to take in the teachings of Gabrielle Bernstein.
You can check her out here.
I would be remiss if I did not also mention Gabby's second book "Spirit Junkie" which I am cruising through for the second time. I will get to that review later, faithful book-lovers. (Gabby's third book is due at the end of 2012 - yay!).
Add more Ing gives a little background on Gabby - ultra-successful at age 21, her addictions to drugs, partying and relationships had left her empty, broke and lonely. After hitting rock bottom, she asked the universe for help. What she received was beyond her wildest dreams - she tuned into her inner guidance system (yup - Ing - you guessed it). She picked up 'A Course in Miracles' and rapidly absorbed its teachings.
Side note: For all of you old-school self help gurus out there, Marianne Williamson writes and speaks extensively on A Course in Miracles, as does Dr. Wayne Dyer, among others.
On her own journey of healing, she decided to share the teachings of the Course with her generation. After meeting Marianne and several other amazing wild women, she wrote her book and guided mediation series (available on itunes or her website Gabbyb ), coaches clients and brings the teachings of the course to Colleges and young women's groups all over the country.
Add More Ing's teachings are not new - mediate, mediate, meditate, visualize, journal, get active, work on your 'stuff', think positively (and with love!), meditate some more - but Gabby's fresh, 'hip' approach is. She tells it like it is - from someone who has been there, let go and let the universe take over. She is honest, open, positive and provides practical solutions to getting 'stuck'. I have to throw some love out to Gabby - she is absolutely inspiring and amazing. If you have the opportunity to meet her in person or attend one of her sessions, do it. It could change your life.
If you are drawn to this book and want to turn up the wattage on your life, I highly recommend it.
