Crazy Sexy Diet Review

Crazy Sexy Diet

by Kris Carr

Have you ever heard anyone say "this book changed my life". Does it get no more from you than a sniffle or an eye roll? Well, get ready - this book changed my life, for real. But not in the way you are expecting. Or perhaps in exactly the way you are expecting. How am I to know what you are expecting, dear reader?

For those of you unfamiliar with Kris Carr, here is a very brief synopsis:
New Yorker, actress, 'Bud Girl', documentary filmmaker, wellness warrior, Cancer survivor.
Her documentary Crazy Sexy Cancer will absolutely blow you away. You can find it at your local bookstore, library, groovy independent movie rental store, friend's really well-stock dvd collection, or on-line.
At 32, Kris was diagnosed with an incurable cancer of the liver and lungs. Crazy Sexy Cancer documents her experiences with different kinds of therapy and food on her journey to becoming a "healing junkie".  She also documents the experiences of several other young women living with cancer. The movie is uplifting and inspiring, and so is Kris Carr.

Crazy Sexy Diet is not a Diet Plan (for those of you unfamiliar with this concept, I would direct you to Alicia Silverstone's The Kind Diet). Besides, you don't need to lose weight gods and goddesses - you are beautiful and perfect exactly as you are.

Crazy Sexy Diet comprises all of Kris' education and experience on health and healing for fighting off illness or for preventative medicine. Health and wellness is all about what you "eat, drink and think". Keeping your temple running in peak condition means getting rid of your "stinkin' thinkin' " through mediation, yoga, fitness, nature and spirituality - or whatever gets you flowing.

And then there is the 'eating and drinking' portion - cupcakes and cosmos are not on the menu, health warriors. They just don't love you like you think they do.

A light went on when I read the pH section (you remember - like high school chemistry). If you know anyone who has a medically-puzzling food intolerance like I do - this will blow you away too. Stressed? Throw coffee at it. Tired? Eat a snack cake with the shelf life of a Galapagos tortoise. If our body is acidic (stressed), why are we guzzling something that is acidic? This throws off our body's delicate chemistry and diminishes its ability to fight illness while it works to maintain the balance you have unwittingly thrown off. This isn't a new concept but an intriguing one none-the-less.

I even gave up coffee. To give you a little background, coffee and I have always had a tumultuous relationship. I would take a break from coffee and, like any unhealthy relationship, I would start craving its warm comfort - romanticizing how good we were for each other and how I would never be happy without it. But when I did go back, I found myself brokenhearted, jittery, exhausted and alone.
When I started taking care of my inner warrior, I felt so good, I didn't want coffee to bring me down.

Packed with pages of doctors, scientists and Psychologists, it is healthcare for a younger generation - we aren't going to sit back and wait for illness - we are going to educate ourselves and make ourselves happy and healthy. Wellness is a continuum and it truly is what you eat, drink and think that counts.

So, how has Crazy Sexy Diet changed my life? I am less stressed, feel happier and more at peace, do more for my inner and outer self than ever before and have experienced too many positive changes to count. I am no buddha by any stretch of the imagination - sometimes I wake up late and don't want to drink green juice or write positive affirmations or welcome the day. Sometimes the coffee maker stares at me longingly and going for a walk seems like more work that sitting on the couch and vegging. But when I do do those things, I feel so much better and taking care of myself feels good. And I deserve it. And so do you.

verdict: High five.

Now take a deep breath, yoga girl.

Peace out.
